How to Get the Most out of Your String Club App

So you downloaded The String Club on your iPad, iPhone, Windows 10, or Android 5.0 device and learned the twelve pieces for your instrument that come loaded on it.  Now what?  Can you learn more music, or is that all there is?

I have great news . . . you can learn dozens or even hundreds more songs with a paid membership to The String Club!

How to Join The String Club Through the App

  1. Look in the bottom left corner for the little gear icon.  That is the Settings button.
  2. Click that and then look at the bottom of the page.  You will see “Don’t have an account with  Register for free at”
  3. Click there while connected to the internet and you will be taken to the website registration page where you can choose your account and get started.  To get all the songs on your app, you will need to get a Basic, Standard, or Pro account.
  4. Once you have completed your registration, go back to that same page on the app and log in.  The String Club songs will appear in your song library, and you can find lots of great music to learn!

If you choose a Basic account or higher, you will be able to connect to The String Club’s entire library of great music on your mobile device.  If you choose a free account, you won’t be able to connect to the The String Club songs on your app, but you will be able to use them on the website.  I suggest to go for at least a Basic account so you can slow down the music as you learn.

*NOTE: Not all the songs on our YouTube channel are available on the app/website.  Click here to see the music available for your instrument:

You Can Save Songs to Your Device for Offline Use

You can use the App online or offline.  When offline, you won't see the entire String Club library of songs, even if you have a String Club membership.  Connect to The String Club while online to access all the songs in our library.  If you want to use a particular song offline, you will need to download it so you have a local copy on your device.  Here's how:

  1. Select the song you want.
  2. Go to the player page for that song (the icon with a screen and a play button)
  3. In the upper right corner, click the "Use Offline" button.
  4. There will be a copy of the song saved to your device that has "(local)" after the song title.
  5. This will remain in your library for use when you disconnect from the internet.

Add Your Own MIDI Files to the App

That’s not all!  You can add songs to The String Club yourself.

To get the best results for you MIDI uploads, please go to:

 Windows 10 and iPhone/iPad:

  1. On a Windows 10 device, iPhone, or iPad, go to the settings page (gear symbol in the lower left) and select the “Advanced” tab.
  2. Change the “Show Project Editor” button to “On”.
  3. Go back to the library and click “Add Song” in the top right of the library screen.
  4. Choose the MIDI file or "stringclub" file on your device you want to upload and follow the instructions on the “Add Song to Library” screen.
  5. Once you click “Create” you will find the song in your library and you can start learning it right away.
  6. You can edit the fingerings, bowings, sounds, and tracks of your song.  This video shows how, starting at 3:00.
  7. If you would like to share your song with The String Club community, go to the Player screen (the icon with a screen and a play button) while connected to the internet and click the "Publish" button in the upper right corner.

On an Android 5.0 device, you can’t add MIDI to the app, but instead you must use the website. 2702507_l copy
